Why You Should Attend the 9th Annual Mu'tamar?

November 25, 2016
Abdullahi Xagalle
My Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters, today marks the first day of the 9th Annual Mu'tamar, a weekend long conference aimed at uniting the community and sharing knowledge that is beneficial to us in both this life and the next. We expect that the attendees of this conference will be mostly from states in New England with some scholars and visitors attending from farther states like Ohio and Minnesota.

This years theme is based on the verse in Surah At-Tahrim "O You who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire” (66:6). The mu'tamar will take place at our usual location, The English High School, located on 144 McBride Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130. The hours for today, Friday, November 25, will be 2:30PM-9:00PM.

The biggest advantage of attending this conference is to understand the in-depth meaning of this verse and how we can implement its teachings into our daily lives. This theme of "Protect yourselves and your families from a Fire" was chosen after rigorous discussion and was ultimately selected due to its utmost relevance and importance during this day and age. We live in a time of severe trials and difficulties, and it is important that we remind each other about the hereafter so that we may strive to become better Muslims during our lifetimes.

Additionally, this conference will have a wide range of highly educated and respected scholars that we had the opportunity and privilege to invite and we must take advantage of their great knowledge and expertise while they are here. This opportunity only comes around once a year, so please do your best to attend and take part in the many beneficial programs.

This year, we will have the kids day camp, a program for children 3-10 years old. For only $5, your child will participate in engaging lectures, Islamic movies and a really interactive and fun gym experience. Our goal is to make Mu'tamar a beneficial experience for children and give parents a chance to take advantage of the conference.

As always, we have a dedicated team of staff that will be present every day to ensure your Mu'tamar experience is a positive and fulfilling one. Please remember that whatever you love for yourself, you should also love for your brothers and sisters. We ask that you bring along all of your family, friends and people that you know so they too can benefit. Please take advantage of this opportunity as though it may be your last. May Allah make us among those that enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil.

May Allah grant you success and guidance.
