It was with great pleasure for the Boston Islamic Center to receive and welcome neighbors, members of public office, and fellow countrymen alike, for its second annual Open Mosque Day.
Facilitated by the council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Open Mosque Day is a nationwide faith-based initiative, encouraging mosques across the United States to have an open minded and open hearted dialogue over sweet pastries with their non Muslim neighbors.
On April 8th 2018, the BIC along with a plethora of other cooperating mosques, opened their doors specifically to the public. Our sincere objectives were to combat the increasingly widespread and indisposed misinterpretations and understandings of the Islamic faith and its adherents.
We wished to exemplify the true nature of your Muslim neighbors: that they live, work, and pray just like every other citizen in these United States of America. Attendees were given the opportunity to not only tour a mosque, have heartfelt one-on-one discussions, observe a traditional prayer, but to also learn about Islam and Muslims.
God willingly, we hope to continue raising high the banner of tolerance, justice, and togetherness, as brothers and sisters in humanity.
