The Boston Islamic Center had a pretty eventful thanksgiving break, with an amazing line up of speakers and events. Alhamdulilah. Here's a quick overview.
We kicked off the week with a lecture by Sheikh Abdirisak Hashi:

For those who may not speak Somali, here are the summarized notes on Sh Abdirisaq Hashi's (may Allah preserve him) lecture (Strengthening Your Relationship With Allah):

1. Be better in private than you are in public. Allah will honor you in public.

2. Be good to/help others. Through this, Allah will strengthen your Iman.

3. Be truthful with Allah. Allah will be truthful with you/Allah will be with you always.

4. Treat others how you would like to be treated. Keep them from harm, honor them, etc.

5. Don't laugh too much. It kills the heart.

6. Give all of your affairs over to Allah. Submit to Him.

7. Trust Allah fully.

8. Be sincere in everything you do.

9. Strengthen your relationship with the words of Allah (Quran). Read it frequently.

10. Spend your wealth in the way of Allah.

11. Make time regularly for His deen.

Then on Saturday, November 30th, we had a Youth Retreat event titled "A Reality Check" and one of the speakers, brother Mohamed Kafi from Columbus, Ohio touched upon pressing topic such as youth violence in the Somali community. The event was well attended by youth and very much a success.

Here's video of the reminder by Brother Mohamed Kafi from Columbus, Ohio.

We'd like to thank all those who attended the events this week. Please keep an eye out for upcoming programming for all age groups. If you have any ideas or suggestions, feel free to email us at bicenter@bicmasjid.org.
